What Is Linkin Park: Unshatter?

Linkin Park: Unshatter is a feature documentary film chronicling the band's journey from the devastating loss of Chester Bennington in 2017 through to their triumphant return in 2024 with new vocalist Emily Armstrong and new drummer Colin Brittain. The film's subtitle — The Hardest Part of Ending Is Starting Again — is taken from the lyrics of Waiting for the End, and captures the emotional weight of what the band has been through.

The film features the full current lineup: Emily Armstrong (vocals), Mike Shinoda (vocals, guitar, keys), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (turntables), and Colin Brittain (drums).

Tickets are available at unshattermovie.com. The film screens in ScreenX and 4DX formats for an immersive concert experience.

The Story Behind the Film: Linkin Park's Return

Chester Bennington died on 20 July 2017. His loss was felt across the entire music world — not just by Linkin Park fans, but by anyone who had ever found comfort or catharsis in the band's music. For years, the remaining members of Linkin Park were silent on the question of whether the band would continue.

The answer came on 5 September 2024, when Linkin Park announced their return with a live-streamed event from Los Angeles. Emily Armstrong — known as the frontwoman of Dead Sara — was introduced as the new vocalist alongside new drummer Colin Brittain. The announcement was met with a mixture of excitement, scepticism, and deep emotion from a fanbase that had waited seven years.

What followed silenced the doubters. The band's live performances with Armstrong were electrifying — she brought her own power and presence to the role while honouring the emotional weight of the catalogue. Their 2024 world tour sold out arenas across the globe. The new album From Zero (released November 2024) debuted at number one in multiple countries.

Unshatter tells this story in full — with access to the band, behind-the-scenes footage, and the live performances that marked their return.

Emily Armstrong: The New Voice of Linkin Park

For many fans, the central question of Unshatter is Emily Armstrong — who she is, how she came to join Linkin Park, and what she brings to the band.

Armstrong is the co-founder and frontwoman of Dead Sara, a Los Angeles rock band known for their raw, powerful sound and Armstrong's extraordinary vocal range. She has been performing professionally since the early 2010s and is widely regarded as one of the most talented rock vocalists of her generation.

Her connection to Linkin Park predates her joining the band — she has spoken in interviews about the influence their music had on her as a young musician. When Mike Shinoda reached out, the conversation was about more than just filling a role: it was about finding someone who understood what the band meant and could carry that forward with integrity.

The response from fans who saw her perform live has been overwhelmingly positive. Her Download Festival 2026 headline performance — Linkin Park's first UK festival headline slot in years — was one of the most talked-about sets of the summer.

From Zero: The Comeback Album

Released in November 2024, From Zero is Linkin Park's eighth studio album and their first with Emily Armstrong. It debuted at number one in the UK, US, Australia, and multiple European markets — making it one of the most successful rock album launches in years.

The album's lead single The Emptiness Machine became the fastest rock song to reach number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in over a decade. It is a statement of intent: heavy, melodic, and unmistakably Linkin Park.

From Zero is the album that Unshatter builds towards — the culmination of the journey the film documents.

Linkin Park's Legacy: Why This Film Matters

Linkin Park are one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 100 million records sold worldwide. Their debut album Hybrid Theory (2000) is one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century. Meteora (2003), Minutes to Midnight (2007), and A Thousand Suns (2010) each defined a moment in rock music history.

But their significance goes beyond sales figures. For millions of fans — particularly those who grew up in the 2000s — Linkin Park's music was a lifeline. Chester Bennington's voice, and the emotional honesty of the band's lyrics, spoke to experiences of pain, isolation, and the struggle to keep going that resonated across generations and cultures.

Unshatter is not just a concert film. It is a film about grief, resilience, and what it means to honour a legacy while finding a way forward. It is, in many ways, the most important rock documentary of 2026.
