Jamiroquai Sign Global Deal With BMG Ahead of Ninth Studio Album – “Up There With Our Very Best Work”
After nearly a decade between full-length releases, Jamiroquai have officially signed a global recording agreement with BMG, setting the stage for their ninth studio album — and their first since 2017’s Automaton.
Frontman Jay Kay has described the forthcoming project as “up there with our very best work of the last thirty years” — a bold statement from a band that has sold over 26 million albums worldwide and defined British acid jazz and funk since 1992.
For fans searching for new Jamiroquai album 2026 news, Jamiroquai BMG signing details, or Jamiroquai official merchandise UK, here’s everything we know — and why this next era could be one of their biggest yet.
Jamiroquai’s New Global Recording Deal With BMG
The new partnership sees Jamiroquai align with BMG’s international recordings division, marking a significant label shift following their long association with Virgin EMI.
BMG’s UK SVP of Recordings praised the band’s:
- Long-term commercial success
- Creative evolution over three decades
- Cultural impact within funk, acid jazz and dance music
- Jay Kay’s continued artistic drive
For Jay Kay, the deal represents more than distribution — it signals creative alignment. He emphasised the importance of retaining visual and musical control, something Jamiroquai have always prioritised, from iconic stage aesthetics to futuristic album artwork.
Why This Matters
- First full-length album in nearly 10 years
- First album under a new global label structure
- Renewed touring momentum across Europe
- Growing resurgence in 90s/2000s funk and acid jazz
In short: this is not nostalgia — this is a relaunch.
Jamiroquai’s Ninth Studio Album: What We Know So Far
While an official release date hasn’t yet been confirmed, several new tracks debuted during the band’s Heels of Steel Tour in 2025, with further European festival appearances scheduled for summer 2026.

Jay Kay confirmed the band have spent the last two years crafting the record — suggesting a deliberate, refined creative process rather than a quick comeback.
Given Jamiroquai’s history of genre fusion — funk basslines, disco grooves, electronic production and socially conscious lyricism — expectations are high for a sound that blends classic warmth with forward-thinking production.
A Look Back: From Acid Jazz Pioneers to Global Funk Icons
Since their 1992 debut, Jamiroquai have built one of the most distinctive catalogues in British music.
Career Highlights
