What Happened on the Main Stage
Capaldi opened with Hollywood and Grace — two fan favourites from his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent — before moving into tracks from his second album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. The setlist was a masterclass in emotional pacing: euphoric highs, gut-punch ballads, and just enough of his trademark self-deprecating humour to keep the crowd laughing between the tears.
Between songs, he thanked the Isle of Wight Festival "for the money" — before quickly adding it "wasn't that much" in case "the tax man is watching." Classic Capaldi.
Despite Scotland going a goal down in their World Cup tie with Morocco mid-set, he kept the energy up, playing tracks from his most recent EP alongside the anthems that made him a household name. His encore opened with newer track Survive, before a stripped-back, reimagined version of Someone You Loved closed the night — leaving the crowd in stunned, emotional silence before erupting.
It was, by any measure, a landmark performance.
