Noel Gallagher Named Songwriter of the Year at the 2026 BRIT Awards — and the Rock World is Buzzing
British music royalty Noel Gallagher is set to be honoured as Songwriter of the Year at the BRIT Awards 2026, taking place on 28th February 2026 at Manchester's Co-op Live Arena. This accolade celebrates Noel's extraordinary songwriting career — from his icon-defining days with Oasis through to his critically acclaimed solo work.
Noel's tunes have shaped British rock for more than three decades and continue to resonate with old fans and new generations alike. Songs like Live Forever, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger and Champagne Supernova remain cultural touchstones — instantly recognisable anthems that helped define the sound of an era.
A Legacy of Songwriting Brilliance
After Oasis originally split in 2009, Noel launched his solo project Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, delivering a string of highly respected albums including:
- Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (2011) — a fresh chapter blending classic rock with expansive sounds.
- Who Built the Moon? (2017) — a bold, psychedelic pop-rock turn that earned critical praise.
- Council Skies (2023) — a deeply personal, richly textured fourth album.
Across these records, Noel's melody-driven songwriting and lyrical wit have continued to stand out, reinforcing his status as one of Britain's most influential songwriters.
Rumours, New Music and Tour Buzz
The Noel hype doesn't stop with awards. Following Oasis's blockbuster Live '25 reunion tour, reports suggest the band could be planning new music and another major world tour in 2027 — putting fans on alert for fresh classics alongside the hits.
🎤 Noel himself has been spotted "in the studio" recently, fuelling speculation that creative sparks are flying — whether that leads to Oasis tracks, solo songs, or something entirely new remains one of 2026's biggest unanswered questions.
And though some controversy has arisen around the BRIT award (with Noel humourously responding to critics), there's no denying the spotlight is firmly on him — amplifying excitement across the rock community.
