Ozzy / Sabbath – The Ultimate Tribute: Everything You Need to Know About the 2026 Heavy Metal Tribute Album

There are tribute albums, and then there are events. When we first heard that Eönian Records were assembling an all-star cast of hard rock and heavy metal musicians to honour the combined legacies of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, we sat up straight. Now that the first single is out in the world — and it sounds exactly as enormous as you'd hope — we're ready to tell you everything.

Here's your complete guide to Ozzy / Sabbath – The Ultimate Tribute, why it matters, and why this is one of the most significant heavy metal releases of 2026.

What Is Ozzy / Sabbath – The Ultimate Tribute?

Ozzy / Sabbath – The Ultimate Tribute is a full-length studio CD tribute album celebrating the music of two of the most influential artists in rock history: Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Released through acclaimed US hard rock label Eönian Records, the album brings together ten iconic tracks — spanning both Ozzy's legendary solo catalogue and Black Sabbath's groundbreaking studio output — performed by an extraordinary lineup of world-class vocalists and guitarists.

The project was carefully curated by Ronnie Borchert (known for his work with Freakshow, Miss Crazy, Trixie, and Amsterdam), produced by Tom Frost at Frost Recording in El Dorado Hills, California, and features Tom Frost on drums and backing vocals and Scott Mitchel on bass guitar throughout.

This is not a budget cash-in. This is a proper, full-band studio recording made by musicians who grew up on this music and approached every track with genuine reverence.

The First Single: Flying High Again ft. Marq Torien and Marc Spyder Webb

The album's debut single is Flying High Again — and the choice of both song and vocalist tells you everything about the ambition of this project.

Originally written by Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, Bob Daisley, and Lee Kerslake, Flying High Again first appeared on Ozzy's iconic 1981 album Diary Of A Madman — widely regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal albums ever recorded. The track is a masterclass in the Randy Rhoads-era Ozzy sound: soaring melody, thunderous rhythm, and a vocal performance that demands everything from its singer.

On this tribute version, Marq Torien — the charismatic frontman of platinum-selling hard rock band Bulletboys, known for hits including Smooth Up In Ya and For The Love Of Money — steps up to the mic alongside powerhouse guitarist Marc Spyder Webb. The result is electrifying: faithful to the original, but with the kind of raw energy that only comes from musicians who genuinely love the source material.

Why Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Deserve This

We talk a lot here at Wonderhaul about the bands that built rock and metal as we know it. Few artists sit higher on that list than Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

Black Sabbath — formed in Birmingham in 1968 — didn't just influence heavy metal. They invented it. Albums like Paranoid (1970), Master Of Reality (1971), and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973) established the blueprint for an entire genre: down-tuned guitars, dark lyrical themes, crushing rhythmic weight. Every doom metal, stoner rock, and heavy metal band that followed owes a debt to Tony Iommi's riffs and Ozzy's unmistakable voice.

Ozzy's solo career — launched in 1980 following his departure from Sabbath — only deepened that legacy. Blizzard Of Ozz, Diary Of A Madman, and No More Tears produced some of the most enduring songs in rock history: Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, Mama I'm Coming Home. Combined, Ozzy has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. He is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame.

This is music that shaped generations. A tribute album of this calibre is not just appropriate — it's overdue.

We feel similarly about Motorhead's legacy — if you haven't read our piece on International Motorhead Day and Lemmy's enduring influence, it's worth your time.
