Queens of the Stone Age New Single 2026: Easy Street feat. Nikki Lane — Everything You Need to Know
Queens of the Stone Age have done it again. Out of nowhere, Josh Homme and co. have dropped "Easy Street" — their first new track since 2023's Times New Roman — and it's unlike anything you'd expect from one of rock's most reliably unpredictable bands.
Featuring the voice of country-rock firecracker Nikki Lane, Easy Street is a shambling, sun-bleached psych-country ballad that sounds like it was recorded in a single afternoon and is all the better for it. Here's the full breakdown.
What Is Queens of the Stone Age's New Single 'Easy Street'?
Released on 15 July 2026 via Matador Records, Easy Street is QOTSA's first studio release in nearly three years. It's a deliberate departure from the band's heavier, more structured output — a loose, human, imperfect thing built on acoustic guitars, hand-claps, and a seasick swirl of untethered synth.
Frontman and guitarist Josh Homme produced and mixed the track alongside QOTSA bassist and keys player Michael Shuman. The result is something that sounds like a demo — intentionally so.
"We made it the way you'd make a demo. No click track, mistakes left in. It speeds up, it slows down, the claps aren't great, but they're not bad, and a bad clap adds this human thing you can't fake."
— Josh Homme
Who Is Nikki Lane and Why Is She on the Track?
Nikki Lane — known as the Highway Queen of Americana — is no stranger to Josh Homme's orbit. Homme played guitar and drums on her 2022 studio album Denim and Diamonds, also handling production and mixing. Easy Street is Lane returning the favour, and the chemistry is immediate.
Her voice cuts through the track's hazy, sun-drenched atmosphere with a rawness that perfectly matches Homme's delivery. Together they play Bonnie and Clyde, riding off into the sunset on a song that's equal parts funny and melancholic.
"It's kind of a funny song. It's like hitting your funny bone, where it's funny because it hurts and it hurts because it's funny. You're serious, but it's funny."
— Josh Homme
'Easy Street' — A Track Breakdown
Easy Street is built around a deceptively simple arrangement:
- Acoustic guitars form the backbone — loose, slightly rushed, deliberately unquantized
- Hand-claps replace a drum kit, giving the track a campfire intimacy
- Synth swirl drifts through the mix untethered to any grid, adding melodic anarchy
- Homme and Lane's vocals trade lines and harmonise, their voices riding the song's natural ebb and flow
The tempo shifts. The claps drift. Nothing is locked to a grid. And that's entirely the point.
"The song, like your life, is in the mistakes. Its imperfections are unbeatable."
— Josh Homme
Did QOTSA Play 'Easy Street' Live Before the Release?
Yes — sharp-eared fans will have already heard Easy Street live. The band debuted it during their 2025 Catacombs tour, giving it a road-test before committing it to record. That live-first approach is consistent with the track's ethos: raw, human, unpolished.
Queens of the Stone Age 2026 Tour — Tottenham Stadium and Beyond
The timing of the release is no coincidence. QOTSA are currently on a stadium-filling co-headline tour with System of a Down, with Acid Bath as openers. The tour continues at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London — one of the biggest rock shows the UK will see this year.

What Does 'Easy Street' Tell Us About the Next QOTSA Album?
Easy Street is a one-off single for now, but its existence signals that Queens of the Stone Age are creatively active and unafraid to experiment. The psych-country direction is a long way from ...Like Clockwork or Villains, but Homme has always resisted being boxed in.
Whether this is a standalone release or a taste of a forthcoming album remains to be seen — but after three years of silence, any new QOTSA music is cause for celebration.
