Kasabian: The Band, The History, The Legacy

Kasabian formed in Leicester in 1997, taking their name from Linda Kasabian — the getaway driver in the Manson Family murders — a provocative choice that set the tone for a band never interested in playing it safe. The classic lineup of Serge Pizzorno (guitar, vocals, production), Tom Meighan (vocals), Chris Edwards (bass) and Ian Matthews (drums) came together in the late 1990s and spent years honing their sound before signing to Columbia Records.

Their self-titled debut album, released in 2004, announced them as one of the most exciting new British rock acts in years. Tracks like Club Foot, L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever) and Reason Is Treason combined the swagger of Oasis with the electronic textures of Primal Scream and the psychedelic ambition of The Stone Roses — a sound that felt both rooted in British rock tradition and genuinely new.

The Albums That Defined a Generation

Empire (2006) pushed the sound further, debuting at number one in the UK and cementing Kasabian as a genuine arena act. West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009) — produced by Dan the Automator — is widely regarded as their masterpiece: a sprawling, cinematic record that won the Mercury Prize and produced some of their most beloved tracks, including Underdog, Fire and Vlad the Impaler.

Velociraptor! (2011) debuted at number one and spawned the anthemic Days Are Forgotten and Switchblade Smiles. 48:13 (2014) followed, another chart-topper, before For Crying Out Loud (2017) — arguably their most melodic and accessible record — gave fans You're in Love with a Psycho, one of the most joyful rock singles of the decade.

After a period of significant change — including the departure of Tom Meighan in 2020 — Pizzorno stepped up as frontman and the band released The Alchemist's Euphoria in 2022, a record that proved Kasabian's creative fire was burning brighter than ever. Happenings followed in 2024, and now Act III — their ninth studio album — is due on 4 September 2026.

Kasabian Live: One of the Greatest Live Acts in the World

If you've seen Kasabian live, you already know. If you haven't — fix that. The band have headlined Glastonbury twice (2014 and 2023), topped the bill at Reading and Leeds, V Festival, T in the Park, and virtually every major UK festival. Their live show is a full-throttle, high-energy spectacle — Pizzorno commanding the stage with the confidence of a man who knows exactly what he's doing, backed by a band that has spent decades perfecting the art of making 50,000 people feel like one.

In July 2026, they headlined Finsbury Park to a sold-out crowd of 45,000 — and immediately announced the Nothing Better Than This UK Arena Tour for December 2026. It's the kind of momentum that only the very best bands sustain.

Kasabian Act III — New Album 2026

Act III is Kasabian's ninth studio album, produced by Serge Pizzorno and Mark Ralph at The Sergery and Club Ralph. The record features 10 tracks of guitar-driven pop and three interludes, with Pizzorno on vocals and guitar, Chris Edwards on bass, Ian Matthews on drums, and Tim Carter on lead guitar.

Three singles have already been released ahead of the album: Hippie Sunshine, Great Pretender, and SUPERPOWERS (released 26 June 2026). Act III is out on 4 September 2026.

Pizzorno has spoken about the album's place in the band's creative arc: "As a human being, I'm at different stages of my life, and each album is a different snapshot." Act III is the latest — and from what we've heard so far, one of the most confident.

Why Buy Official Licensed Kasabian Merchandise?

There's a lot of unofficial band merch out there — and it's worth knowing the difference. Official licensed merchandise is produced with the direct approval of the artist and their management. It meets quality standards set by the band, uses approved artwork and imagery, and — crucially — a portion of every sale goes back to the artist.

Bootleg and unofficial merch cuts the band out entirely. When you buy official from Wonderhaul, you're not just getting a better product — you're actively supporting Kasabian's ability to keep making music, touring, and doing what they do.

Every item in our store is officially licensed. No exceptions.
