The Origins of Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd were formed in London in 1965 by Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright. The band initially became central figures in the London underground psychedelic scene of the late 1960s. Their early music was heavily influenced by Syd Barrett's surreal songwriting and experimental sound, culminating in their debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
