Summer Breeze 2026: Europe's Metal Capital for Four Days
Summer Breeze Open Air 2026 runs from 12th to 15th August at its spiritual home in Dinksbühl, Bavaria — and the lineup is one of the strongest the festival has assembled in years. With Helloween, In Flames, and Arch Enemy headlining, and a supporting cast that includes Lamb of God, Saxon, Airbourne, Alestorm, Testament, Amorphis, Skindred, Soulfly, Paradise Lost, and Deicide, this is four days of uncompromising heavy music in one of Europe's most beloved festival settings.
Festival tickets are sold out, but day tickets remain available with limited availability. Whether you're heading to Dinksbühl or watching the hype from home, here's your complete guide to Summer Breeze 2026 — the headliners, the highlights, and the official band merch to represent your favourite acts.
The Headliners
Helloween
The German power metal legends headline Summer Breeze 2026 on the strength of one of the most celebrated catalogues in European metal. Formed in Hamburg in 1984, Helloween essentially invented the power metal genre — the twin-guitar attack, the soaring vocals, the galloping rhythms that would influence generations of bands from Blind Guardian to DragonForce. Their 2021 reunion album, simply titled Helloween, brought together the classic lineup including both Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen alongside current vocalist Andi Deris, and was received as one of the great comeback records in metal history.
A Helloween headline set at Summer Breeze is a guaranteed spectacle — expect a career-spanning setlist, impeccable musicianship, and the kind of crowd singalongs that only power metal can produce.
In Flames
Swedish melodic death metal pioneers In Flames have been one of the most influential bands in European heavy music since the mid-1990s. Albums like The Jester Race (1996), Whoracle (1997), and Clayman (2000) defined the Gothenburg sound and inspired an entire generation of bands. Their more recent output has moved in a more accessible, radio-friendly direction — which has divided the fanbase but expanded their reach considerably. A Summer Breeze headline set will be a chance to hear both eras in one place.
Arch Enemy
Arch Enemy are one of the most important bands in modern melodic death metal, and their Summer Breeze headline slot is richly deserved. Fronted by Alissa White-Gluz since 2014, the band has continued to release some of the most technically accomplished and commercially successful metal of the past decade. Their combination of crushing riffs, melodic leads, and White-Gluz's extraordinary vocal range — capable of both brutal growls and soaring clean vocals — makes them one of the most complete live acts in heavy music.
The Highlights: Who Else to Watch at Summer Breeze 2026
Lamb of God
One of the most important American metal bands of the past two decades, Lamb of God bring their crushing groove metal to Summer Breeze 2026. Their 2022 album Omens was one of the strongest of their career — a record that showed a band still operating at the peak of their powers after more than 25 years. Randy Blythe's vocals, Mark Morton and Willie Adler's interlocking guitar work, and John Campbell's bass are as formidable a combination as exists in heavy music. Do not miss this set.
Saxon
NWOBHM legends Saxon have been flying the flag for British heavy metal since 1977, and they show no signs of slowing down. With a catalogue that spans nearly 50 years and includes classics like Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law, and Denim and Leather, a Saxon set at Summer Breeze is a masterclass in the fundamentals of heavy metal. Biff Byford remains one of the great frontmen of his generation.
Skindred
Newport's finest bring their unique blend of reggae, metal, and punk to Dinksbühl — and if you've never seen Skindred live, Summer Breeze 2026 is the perfect introduction. Benji Webbe is one of the most charismatic frontmen in rock, and the band's ability to get a metal crowd moving in ways they didn't expect is genuinely remarkable. Their Newport Helicopter tradition alone is worth the price of a day ticket.
Testament
Bay Area thrash legends Testament are one of the most consistent live acts in metal. Chuck Billy's vocals have only improved with age, and the band's recent output — particularly Titans of Creation (2020) — has been among the strongest of their career. Expect a setlist that balances the classics with newer material, delivered with the precision and power that has made them one of thrash metal's most enduring acts.
Amorphis
Finnish progressive death metal masters Amorphis are one of the most consistently excellent bands in European metal, and their Summer Breeze set will be a highlight for anyone who appreciates the more atmospheric end of the heavy music spectrum. Their ability to move between crushing heaviness and delicate melody within a single song is unmatched.
Deicide
Death metal veterans Deicide bring the brutality to Summer Breeze 2026. Glen Benton and company have been one of the most uncompromising acts in extreme metal since 1987, and their live show remains as intense as anything on the festival circuit. Not for the faint-hearted — essential for the dedicated.
Paradise Lost
Gothic doom metal pioneers Paradise Lost are one of the most influential bands in European heavy music, and their Summer Breeze appearance is a reminder of just how deep the festival's programming goes. Albums like Gothic (1991) and Icon (1993) essentially created the gothic metal genre, and the band continues to release vital music more than 35 years into their career.
Soulfly
Max Cavalera's post-Sepultura project brings tribal metal fury to Dinksbühl. With a catalogue that draws on thrash, death metal, hardcore, and world music, Soulfly are one of the most unpredictable and exciting live acts on the festival circuit.
