The Wait Is Finally Over
It's been 11 long years. Eleven years since Megadeth last graced a UK stage as headliners — and for British thrash metal fans, that wait has felt like an eternity. But the news is finally here: Megadeth are returning to the UK in 2027, as part of a sweeping new European leg of their ongoing farewell tour.
The announcement dropped on 3rd August 2026, and the metal community has been buzzing ever since. The Full UK Run
The UK leg kicks off on 9th March 2027 at The O2 in Belfast, before tearing through eight cities across the month. Here's the full rundown:
- 9 March – The O2, Belfast
- 11 March – OVO Arena Wembley, London
- 12 March – Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham
- 13 March – Co-op Live, Manchester
- 15 March – Utilita Arena, Cardiff
- 16 March – OVO Hydro, Glasgow
- 18 March – BP Pulse Live, Birmingham
- 19 March – First Direct Bank Arena, Leeds
Nine shows across nine cities — a proper full-scale UK tour, not a one-off London date. Every major region gets a shot at seeing one of thrash metal's founding fathers do it one more time.
Then It's Europe's Turn
After wrapping the UK, Megadeth head straight into a continental European run spanning late March through to mid-April — Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, and more. 16 European dates in total, closing out on 13th April in Lisbon.
The Farewell That Keeps Going
Dave Mustaine himself acknowledged last year that this farewell tour could run for up to five years — and given the scale of what's being announced, that's looking increasingly plausible. The tour is also serving as the live vehicle for Megadeth's self-titled final album, released in January 2026, alongside the documentary Behind the Mask.
There are also whispers of a greatest hits compilation in the works, though nothing official has been confirmed yet. Either way, the band are clearly going out on their own terms — loud, relentless, and on a global scale.
Megadeth are of course one of the Big Four of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax — a lineage that defined an entire genre and generation of heavy music. Seeing them live in 2027 isn't just a gig; it's a piece of metal history.
