Dynamo Metal Fest 2026: Three Days of Heavy Music in the Heart of Eindhoven
Dynamo Metal Fest 2026 runs from 14th to 16th August at its spiritual home in Eindhoven, The Netherlands — and the lineup is one of the strongest in the festival's storied history. Across three mainstage days, Helloween celebrate their 40th anniversary, Lamb of God and Slaughter to Prevail headline Saturday, and In Flames and Godsmack close out Sunday. Supporting acts include Testament, Soulfly, Amorphis, Overkill, Primus, Thy Art Is Murder, Death Angel, Kittie, Bleed from Within, Fit for an Autopsy, and many more.
Dynamo has a special place in metal history — the original Dynamo Open Air festival in the 1990s was one of the defining events of European heavy music, and the modern incarnation carries that legacy with pride. Here's your complete guide to Dynamo Metal Fest 2026.
Friday 14th August: Helloween – 40 Years of Power Metal
Friday belongs to Helloween, and the occasion couldn't be more significant: the German power metal legends are celebrating their 40th anniversary at Dynamo Metal Fest 2026. Formed in Hamburg in 1984, Helloween essentially invented the European power metal genre — the twin-guitar attack, the soaring vocals, the galloping rhythms that would influence generations of bands from Blind Guardian to DragonForce.
Their 2021 reunion album brought together the classic lineup including both Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen alongside current vocalist Andi Deris, and was received as one of the great comeback records in metal history. A 40th anniversary headline set at Dynamo is a once-in-a-generation event — expect a career-spanning setlist, impeccable musicianship, and the kind of crowd singalongs that only power metal can produce.
Supporting on Friday: Thy Art Is Murder, Amorphis, Destruction, and Revocation.
Saturday 15th August: Lamb of God & Slaughter to Prevail
Saturday is headlined by Lamb of God — one of the most important American metal bands of the past two decades. Their crushing groove metal, Randy Blythe's ferocious vocals, and the interlocking guitar work of Mark Morton and Willie Adler make them one of the most formidable live acts in heavy music. Their 2022 album Omens was one of the strongest of their career, and a Dynamo headline set will be a masterclass in modern American metal.
Co-headlining Saturday is Slaughter to Prevail — the Russian deathcore outfit fronted by Alex Terrible, whose viral videos and relentless touring have made them one of the most talked-about extreme metal acts of recent years. Their combination of crushing breakdowns, death metal technicality, and Terrible's extraordinary vocal range makes them one of the most intense live experiences in heavy music.
Also on Saturday: Primus, Bleed from Within, Overkill, Fit for an Autopsy, The Cost, Self Deception, Insanity Alert, Castle Rat, Employed to Serve, Necrot, and Tailgunner.
Sunday 16th August: In Flames & Godsmack
Sunday closes out Dynamo Metal Fest 2026 with two of rock's biggest names sharing the headline slot.
In Flames — Swedish melodic death metal pioneers whose albums The Jester Race (1996), Whoracle (1997), and Clayman (2000) defined the Gothenburg sound and inspired an entire generation of bands. Their more recent output has moved in a more accessible direction, but a Dynamo headline set will be a chance to hear both eras in one place.
Godsmack — Boston hard rock heavyweights who have been one of the most commercially successful American rock bands of the past 25 years. Their most recent record, Lighting Up the Sky (2023), was presented as their final studio album, making every live performance from here on a farewell of sorts. A Dynamo headline set from Godsmack in 2026 is a genuinely significant moment.
Also on Sunday: Testament, Soulfly, Death Angel, Kittie, Sanguisugabogg, Hyro the Hero, Filth, Lowen, 200 Stab Wounds, Urne, Ronker, and Cwfen.
Why Dynamo Matters: A Festival with History
The Dynamo name carries enormous weight in European metal. The original Dynamo Open Air festival — held in Eindhoven from 1986 to 1998 — was one of the defining events of the genre, hosting legendary performances from Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Slayer, and virtually every major metal act of the era. Its revival as Dynamo Metal Fest has been welcomed by the metal community as a return of something genuinely important — a festival with roots, history, and a commitment to heavy music in all its forms.
The 2026 edition, with its mix of legacy acts (Helloween's 40th anniversary, Godsmack's farewell era, Testament's enduring thrash) and newer forces (Slaughter to Prevail, Bleed from Within, 200 Stab Wounds), is a perfect encapsulation of what makes Dynamo special: a festival that honours the past while embracing the future of heavy music.
