About Bad Religion
Bad Religion were formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1980 by vocalist Greg Graffin and guitarist Brett Gurewitz. The band's classic lineup also includes guitarist Brian Baker, bassist Jay Bentley, and drummer Jamie Miller. Greg Graffin holds a PhD in zoology from Cornell University, and Bad Religion's lyrics are renowned for their intellectual depth, addressing topics from evolution and religion to politics and social justice.
Bad Religion are one of the founding acts of the Southern California punk scene and were instrumental in the development of melodic hardcore. Their label Epitaph Records, founded by Brett Gurewitz, became one of the most important independent punk labels in history, releasing albums by The Offspring, Rancid, and NOFX.
