Band History
Origins (1998–2004)
Bullet For My Valentine formed in Bridgend, South Wales, initially under the name Jeff Killed John. The founding lineup included vocalist and guitarist Matt Tuck, lead guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget, bassist Jason James, and drummer Michael Thomas.
After signing to Sony BMG subsidiary Visible Noise, the band released a self-titled EP in 2004 that immediately caught the attention of the metal world, leading to a deal with Epic Records in the United States.
The Poison Era (2005–2007)
The band's debut album The Poison (2005) was a landmark release that helped define the sound of 2000s melodic metalcore. Combining twin guitar harmonies, soaring choruses, and aggressive breakdowns, the album achieved Gold certification and produced iconic tracks including Tears Don't Fall, 4 Words (To Choke Upon), and All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me).
The Poison remains one of the most influential metalcore albums ever recorded and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025 with a major co-headline tour alongside Trivium.
Scream Aim Fire & Fever (2008–2011)
Scream Aim Fire (2008) debuted at number 4 on the UK Albums Chart and number 23 on the Billboard 200, cementing the band's status as a global force in heavy music. The album featured the fan favourites Waking the Demon and Scream Aim Fire.
Fever (2010) marked a more polished, melodic direction and became the band's highest-charting album in the UK, reaching number 3. It featured Your Betrayal and The Last Fight.
Temper Temper, Venom & Gravity (2013–2018)
The band continued to evolve across three further albums — Temper Temper (2013), Venom (2015), and Gravity (2018) — each exploring different sonic territories while maintaining the band's core identity of melodic heaviness and emotional songwriting.
Self-Titled Album (2021)
Bullet For My Valentine's seventh studio album, released in 2021, embraced a darker and heavier modern metal direction. Produced by Carl Brown, the album debuted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and featured the singles Knives, Paralysed, and Shatter.
Eighth Album (2027)
The band are currently preparing their eighth studio album, targeting a January 2027 release. Matt Tuck has described the record as combining elements of The Poison, Fever, and the 2021 self-titled album, while Padge has teased "super heavy" material with experimental tunings including drop G.
