Kill 'Em All (1983)

Ride the Lightning (1984)

Metallica's second album showed rapid artistic growth, expanding their sound with more complex arrangements and darker themes. It featured For Whom the Bell Tolls and Fade to Black.

Master of Puppets (1986)

Load (1996) & Reload (1997)

Load and Reload saw Metallica embrace a more blues-influenced hard rock sound, dividing fans but producing some of the band's most melodic work, including Until It Sleeps, The Memory Remains, and Fuel.

Death Magnetic (2008) & Hardwired...to Self-Destruct (2016)

Death Magnetic marked a return to thrash metal roots and debuted at No.1 in 23 countries. Hardwired...to Self-Destruct followed in 2016, also debuting at No.1 worldwide and featuring Hardwired and Atlas, Rise!

72 Seasons (2023)

Metallica's most recent studio album, 72 Seasons, debuted at No.1 in multiple countries including the UK and US, proving the band's enduring commercial and creative power more than four decades into their career.

Grammy Awards and Legacy

Metallica have won nine Grammy Awards, including Best Metal Performance five times. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Master of Puppets was selected for preservation in the US National Recording Registry in 2016. They remain one of the highest-grossing live acts in the world.
