About Soundgarden
Soundgarden were formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. The classic lineup — Chris Cornell (vocals, guitar), Kim Thayil (lead guitar), Ben Shepherd (bass), and Matt Cameron (drums) — became one of the defining acts of the grunge era. Chris Cornell's extraordinary four-octave vocal range is widely regarded as one of the greatest in rock history.
Soundgarden were one of the first grunge bands to sign to a major label, and their albums Badmotorfinger and Superunknown are considered landmarks of 1990s rock. Following Chris Cornell's tragic passing in May 2017, Soundgarden's legacy has only grown stronger.
