About Deep Purple

Formed in Hertford, England in 1968, Deep Purple are one of the most influential rock bands of all time. Alongside Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, they are widely considered pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock. The classic Mark II lineup — Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Jon Lord, and Ian Paice — produced some of the most celebrated albums in rock history.

Their 1972 album Machine Head remains a landmark record, featuring Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, and Space Truckin'. Earlier albums like In Rock (1970) and Fireball (1971) cemented their reputation as one of the hardest-hitting live acts in the world. Deep Purple were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
